How do I know if coaching is for me?
Behavioral health coaching may be for you if you have certain goals in mind (i.e., start meditating every day, lose thirty pounds, etc.) but continue to run into the same barriers, you want to make changes to your health but do not know where to start or feel overwhelmed with all the changes you think you have to make, or you just want to gain a better understanding of yourself, your inner world, and the extent to which that impacts the way you experience the world around you.
How long does coaching typically last for?
Three months. We can go on for longer if you choose, as some clients do, specifically for the accountability component. However, if you still feel like you need a health coach after three months, your health coach may not be doing a very good job. A three-month commitment is what I recommend to all clients starting out.
What can I expect from our sessions?
All sessions are done virtually. The first session will last anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour, as I gain an understanding of (a) where you are currently in regards to your overall health and well-being and (b) where you would like to be. Session by session, we work together to fill in this gap as I help you select realistic, doable goals that you are ready to commit to for the week. Week by week, these small wins add up to create lasting behavior change.
All ongoing sessions are once a week for about 45 minutes. We will review the progress you’ve made toward your overall wellness vision, the weekly goal, explore and resolve any barriers or pressing issues that are coming up along the way (hey, they most often do and this is good - it allows us to learn something new), and finally, explore the best goal to set for the upcoming week.
At the end of each session, I will share your “My Optimal Well-Being” document via email and we will continue to tweak it throughout the week as needed until we meet again. This is a working document throughout the entirety of health coaching that outlines your overall wellness vision, monthly goals, weekly goals, strategies to meet them, etc.
